TENDON TEARS

Tendon ruptures, increasingly common in active individuals, require timely repair, with Dr. Levick using advanced suture techniques and grafts to prevent reoccurrence and improve recovery.

What is a Tendon Rupture?

Tendon Ruptures, although rare, are becoming more and more common secondary to increased activity like pickle and paddle ball. “Weekend warriors” who sustain tendon tears must have their tendon repaired within 1-2 weeks of injury. Dr. Levick utilizes several suture techniques and graft applications to reduce reoccurrence, and reinjury and prevent adhesions.

Surgery is indicated if injections fail, with arthroscopy used to assess and repair the damaged cartilage.

If the patient fails injections, Dr. Levick will utilize arthroscopy to map out where the lesion is. Depending on size and location, there are numerous techniques to fix the deficit in the cartilage.
